Trump take tequila, Trump take beer

There’s a joke that’s been bouncing around Bluesky for the past month-ish about President Donald Trump’s pants-shittingly stupid economic “policies” and how Democratic politicians and their fellow travelers should be talking about it: “Trump take egg.” Trump said he was going to reduce the cost of groceries, and specifically eggs. Now, eggs are more expensive than they were before he took office, if you can find them at all. Why? Trump take egg. You get it.

Whether this is an effective political message is up for debate; I think it could probably be part of one, if most national-level Democrats weren’t juiceless, decorum-humping dipshits well past their best-by dates. But regardless, it’s a decent three-word summation of what’s going on with The Economy™️ right now. So naturally, when the Trump administration’s long-threatened, briefly suspended 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada took effect yesterday morning, people started riffing on the gag with stuff like “Trump take tequila” and “Trump take beer.”
